Recently I have been able to influence some parts of the position description for new recruitment campaigns.
This is an example of the position description I helped contribute to with Open Life Science.
Here are some contributions that I made that were in the final position description.
OLS is an employer that recognises that experience can be more about opportunity than ability. We aim to identify talented individuals who may not have been given the opportunities of their peers due to the cumulative effects of discrimination on factors such as race, gender, disability, gender identity and the intersectionality of that discrimination.
We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all employees, If you feel that the description of this role has not matched up to the commitment of these ideals̩ please let us know via [redacted] or contact one of the OLS cofounders directly.
Big shout-out to the entire OLS team who did a wonderful job of writing an inclusive ad and recruitment process that included FAQs and was open and transparent.
The second position description was with the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute for a Research Software Engineer position that was focused on Research Computing.
PD – Research Computing Engineer
Here are some contributions that I made that were in the final position description.
Experience with or ability to quickly learn core research and High-Performance Computing technologies
Ability to learn complex concepts across multiple domains and demonstrate that to a domain-specific audience.
